International Workers’ Day  (国际劳动节)
Also known as Labour Day, is an annual holiday to celebrate the achievements of workers.
Labour Day has its origins in the labour union movement, specifically the eight-hour day movement, which advocated eight hours for work, eight hours for recreation, and eight hours for rest.
Labour day is a national holiday in China

May 4th, Sunday
Youth Day  (青年节)
Started in 1919 as movements of young people against Imperialism and Feudalism.
In modern days, there are many memorial ceremonies and volunteer activities around China.
There are ceremonies celebrating becoming adult in some regions.

May 5th, Monday
LiXia (立夏)
The 7th of the 24 important Chinese traditional festivals celebrated around May 5th or 6th.
It’s a start of summer and eat broad beans in some region.
It begins when the Sun reaches the celestial longitude of 45° and ends when it reaches the longitude of 60°.

May 12th, Monday
2008 Sichuan Earthquake (汶川大地震)
The 2008 Sichuan Earthquake occurred May 12th, 2008.
It was a magnitude 8.0 earthquake and killed almost 70,000 people.
Avoid showy marketing activities.

China Tourism Day (中国旅游日)
There are many events promoting various travel destinations.
