August 1st, Friday
Army Day (建军节)
In 1933, Chinese Soviet Republic government established Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army.
After the formation of the PRC, the day is renamed as Army Day to celebrate the People’s Liberation Army. Also known as “8-1 Army Day”.

August 3rd, Sunday
Men’s Day (男人节)
Usually celebrated by young Internet users.
Since “Women’s Day” is on March 8th (3/8), the reversed dates August 3rd (8/3) became “Men’s Day”.

August 7th, Thursday
Beginning of Autumn (立秋)
The 13th of the Chinese traditional 24 solar season, when the Sun reaches the celestial longitude of 135 degrees.
It’s the end of summer and the start of autumn.

July 1st, Tuesday
Communist Party of China Foundation (1921) (建党节) 
Communist Party of China was founded in July 1st, 1921.
In May 1938, Mao Zedong mentioned “This July 1st will be the 17th anniversary of the foundation of the Communist Party of China” in a publication. Since then, July 1st is celebrated the foundation of the party.
Major media covers ceremonies around the country.

July 1st, Tuesday
Transfer of the sovereignty of Hong Kong (1997) (香港回归纪念日)
On July 1st. 1997, Hon Kong was return to China from Great Britain, and became a Special Administrative Region of China.
Major media air special TV programs to celebrate the return.

Beginning of July to End of August
School summer vacation
Summer vacation start at the beginning of July for most of schools in China Boosts for travel and leisure consumption is expected and many stores launch summer bargain. Back to school campaign will start from August.

June 1st, Sunday
International Children’s Day  (国际儿童节)
Children’s Day, also known as International Day for Protection of Children, was established by the Women’s International Democratic Federation on it’s congress in Moscow in November 1949.
One-day holiday at Kindergartens.

June 2nd, Monday
Dragon boat festival  (端午节)
A traditional and statutory holiday in China.
The festival occurs on the 5th day of the 5th month of the traditional Chinese calendar.
People eat Zongzi and race dragon boats.

International Workers’ Day  (国际劳动节)
Also known as Labour Day, is an annual holiday to celebrate the achievements of workers.
Labour Day has its origins in the labour union movement, specifically the eight-hour day movement, which advocated eight hours for work, eight hours for recreation, and eight hours for rest.
Labour day is a national holiday in China

May 4th, Sunday
Youth Day  (青年节)
Started in 1919 as movements of young people against Imperialism and Feudalism.
In modern days, there are many memorial ceremonies and volunteer activities around China.
There are ceremonies celebrating becoming adult in some regions.

One of the eight important Chinese traditional festivals celebrated around April 5th, 106th day from winter solstice.
People visits their ancestors’ tomb with their family to pay respect by sweeping tombs and offering incense.
